Asterisk Modular is an experimental typeface, its form influenced by the bitmap type and the six-pointed asterisk.  The asterisk form is drawn from my collation and analysis of receipts, documented in Please Retain Me. 

Asterisk Modular’s system restrictions forced certain characteristics on the typeset such as sharp, triangular forms.
